City in the centre of the peninsula, in a convenient position, 70 km north-east from Toledo, 100 km south-east from Segovia, 110 km south-east from Ávila. Access: railway station in the resort. El Escorial 45 km. Aranjuez 50 km. Bright, hospitable and lively city, with a dry continental climate, warm in summer and cold in winter. It is a cosmopolitan city, with an intense cultural and artistic feel with a variety of museums, cultural centres, exhibitions, shows and an attractive nightlife. Must visit: el Retiro, a park which is especially lively on Sunday mornings, Casa de Campo, the largest park in the city. La Puerta del Sol, the most recent square in the capital, the Plaza Mayor and the Palacio Real. The Museo del Prado and the Thyssen-Bornemisza collection. It is possible to play golf: Centro Deportivo Barberan, CPM La Dehesa, Club de Golf Las Rejas (Majadahonda, 20 km). For arrivals by plane: airport Madrid-Barajas (MAD) 15 km.
